Meet the voices behind our stories

Ruth Plumly Thompson (1891–1976) became one of the most important contributors to the continuing adventures set in the Land of Oz. Her lively writing style, filled with humor and imaginative wordplay, made her particularly well suited to writing children’s fantasy stories. Her stories often featured playful language, unusual inventions, and fast-moving adventures that kept young readers engaged. Thompson had a talent for creating whimsical situations that balanced excitement with humor, making her books enjoyable for both children and adults.
Margery Allingham (1904–1966) was one of the major writers of twentieth-century detective fiction and a prominent figure of the genre’s Golden Age. Her 1929 novel The Crime at Black Dudley introduced the character Albert Campion, who would later become the central figure in many of her most famous stories. Over the course of her career, Allingham wrote more than twenty novels featuring Campion, along with numerous short stories and other works of fiction. Her books are widely admired for their blend of mystery, humor, and suspenseful storytelling.
